Bas van den Broek
Bas van den Broek is a results-driven leader with a proven track record in the development and scaling of innovative technologies. As the head of Development Operations at BioMed Elements, he spearheads the creation of biodegradable medical devices aimed at improving global health. Under his leadership, BioMed has successfully advanced projects from concept to market, including the groundbreaking SynuSeal™ Nasal Gel. Prior to his role at BioMed Elements, Bas was a key driver of process development and scale-up at FutureChemistry B.V. In 2020, he joined MSD (part of Merck & Co., Inc.), where he played an instrumental role in the launch of a state-of-the-art vaccine production facility.
Throughout his career, Bas has developed strong leadership capabilities, excelling in team management, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring.
At BioMed Elements, Bas’s expertise extends beyond R&D, having designed and overseen the establishment of new R&D and production facilities, positioning the company for future growth. He holds a Master’s degree in Chemistry and a PhD in Organic Chemistry from Radboud University in Nijmegen, reflecting his deep technical knowledge and commitment to innovation.
Outside of his professional work, Bas serves as the treasurer for his local handball sports club, where he works to enhance the organizational structure and ensure the sport remains accessible and enjoyable for all participants.
