Floris Breen
Floris has always had a natural curiosity about how things work, whether in science, mechanics, or everyday life. His passion for chemistry began in high school, sparked by a teacher whose enthusiasm for the subject was contagious. Chemistry quickly became a favorite subject, and that passion led Floris to pursue a bachelor’s degree in organic and polymer chemistry, setting the foundation for a career in research and product development.
Floris began his professional journey at BioMed, where he now works as a Product Engineer. His role revolves around researching and developing new products, with the ultimate goal of bringing innovative solutions to market.
One of Floris’ biggest contributions so far has been SynuSeal™, a project he has been deeply involved in—from extensive research during the prototype phase to helping set up its production process. While the product isn’t on the market yet, seeing it progress toward launch is something Floris is incredibly proud of, knowing the work he has put in will soon make a real impact.
What Floris enjoys most about his role at BioMed is the freedom and trust he is given in his research. The company values his expertise, allowing him to explore new ideas and push the boundaries of product innovation. Being part of a team that fosters creativity and scientific discovery makes the work even more rewarding.
Outside of the lab, Floris finds joy in cooking, often experimenting with new recipes and techniques. He sees it as another form of creativity—playing with flavors, refining dishes, and making something from scratch. More recently, He has taken up a new hands-on project: restoring an old moped. What started as a simple repair job has turned into a passion for understanding the mechanics, problem-solving, and bringing the machine back to life. The process of taking it apart, figuring out how it all fits together, and making it run smoothly again is both challenging and deeply satisfying—much like the work Floris does in product development.
Whether in the lab, the kitchen, or the garage, Floris thrives on exploration, problem-solving, and hands-on creation. With a strong foundation in chemistry and a passion for innovation, he continues to push forward, always eager to learn, create, and refine—both in his career and personal pursuits.
